Light Up the Night Sky with Your Creativity!

During this creative workshop with artist Hobey Ford you will have an opportunity to create a one-of-a kind Lantern Puppet using an assortment of translucent forms and materials. From pirates and mermaids to crabs and critters, participants will get creative as they craft their very own illuminated lantern rod puppet to participate in the Hilton Head Island Lantern Parade on November 12, 2022. Recommended for ages 13 & up.

Alana Adams
Senior Director of Education

Alana Adams received her BFA in Art Education at Georgia State University with an emphasis in ceramics and sculpture. Since receiving her PK-12 certification in 2001, she has gone on to teach art and pottery for children and adults in both private and public institutions. Alana specializes in the development of arts-integrated curricula and is the Senior Director of Education at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina.

Hobey Ford

Hobey Ford is internationally renowned in the puppetry field as an award-winning performer and a Kennedy Center Partner in Education teaching artist. Ford designs and constructs all of his Golden Rod Puppets as well as the beautiful sets that surround them. Ford has received the highest awards for his brilliant and priceless contributions to the world of puppetry: two-time winner of puppetry's highest honor, the UNIMA Citation of Excellence; recipient of three Jim Henson Foundation grants; and The Hermitage Fellowship. Renowned for excellence in his craft, Hobey not only performs his original works all over the world but also offers workshops to teachers and students alike.
