2017/18 Theater Subscriptions

The 2017/18 Season kicked off with the South Carolina premiere of the joyous Tony Award-winning musical The Color Purple. Remaining shows this season include the Carolinas' premiere of Disney’s Tony-winning Newsies, fresh off its First National Tour. Chills await in February with our patrons’ number one non-musical, the thriller Dial M for Murder, a must for whodunit fans. In May, join us for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s masterful Evita – your number #1 requested musical. And in the summer, celebrate the legendary music of the Bee Gees at the Southeasterns premiere of Saturday Night Fever!

    December 6-31, 2017
    The Arts Center is thrilled to produce the Carolinas’ premiere of Disney’s Tony Award-winning Newsies, with jubilant music by Alan Menken and book by Harvey Fierstein. The show puts the spotlight on high-flying dance with everything from tumbling to tap. Set in New York City at the turn of the century and inspired by the real-life Newsboys strike of 1899, Newsies is the rousing tale of a charismatic newsboy who dreams of a better life far from the streets.

    Dial M for Murder
    February 6-25, 2018
    The perfect whodunit! Clues abound in the unfolding of the tale, so be watchful! Tony Wendice married his wife for her money and now plans to murder her for the same reason. He arranges the perfect murder…or so he thinks. When the would-be murderer Tony hires ends up dead, Tony will go to any length to see his wife convicted for the crime.

    May 2-27, 2018
    Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice's masterful "Evita" focuses on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Peron, the ruthlessly ambitious second wife of Argentine president Juan Peron, and follows her early life, rise to power, charity work and eventual death. The show wows with show-stopping numbers including “Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina,” “And the Money Kept Rolling In (and Out),” “The Rainbow Tour,” and “High-flying, Adored.”

    Saturday Night Fever
    June 20-July 29, 2018
    Get your your boogie shoes on for the Arts Center’s Southeastern premiere of Saturday Night Fever! Hustle back to the 70s with music and lyrics by the legendary Bee Gees for this story about a 19-year-old Brooklyn ladies’ man, Tony Manero, whose weekends are spent at the local discotheque where he luxuriates in the admiration of the crowd, his growing relationship with the new girl at the club, and he can temporarily forget the realities of his life!
