CUTTER/DRAPER (see PDF of full job description and necessary qualifications): Full-time.
We are a small shop and the cutter/draper is second in command.
Duties of cutter/draper include but not limited to:
  • Meet w/shop manager/designer to plan construction of all builds
  • Spearhead builds and alterations
  • Attend fittings and dress rehearsals
  • Costume crafts such as jewelry making, painting/dyeing, distressing, shoe repair and millinery
  • Participation as assigned in Arts Center functions including Gala events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualified applicants will have a strong track record as a Cutter/ Draper for a professional theater with particular experience with large cast musicals, excellent problem solving and communication skills, and be a strong collaborator. A broad skillset in the repair and maintenance of both garments and human hair wigs preferred. Experience with special effects and crafts is desirable, but not required.

The Cutter Draper is a full time, hourly non-exempt position, paid bi-weekly. The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina offers medical, dental and life insurance, as well as voluntary 401K plan.

STAFF CARPENTER (see PDF of full job description and necessary qualifications): Full-time.
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Construction, assembly and installation of scenery for Arts Center productions
  • Working with Master Carpenter on work allocation and scheduling
  • Assist in supervising overhire and/or shop volunteer assistants
  • Assist in maintenance and upkeep of scenic elements during show runs
  • Assist in the shop upkeep
  • Occasional running crew assignments
  • Participation as assigned in Arts Center functions including Gala Fundraisers, rentals, Presenting Series, festivals, education and outreach activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified applicants will have a strong background is standard scenic construction techniques and treatments. They will also have a sold background in the use of standard shop tools and equipment. Experience in rigging and MIG and or TIG welding desirable but not required.

On-going need for part-time Over Hire and/or Running Crew positions. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and have own transportation. Over Hire may include carpentry, paint, props or costumes.
