Brief Description:  Campers will experience a mini-production and will not only be the cast, but will also be the production crew, learn how to understand and develop characters, create sets and props, and design costumes, then will perform for family and friends on Friday afternoon.

Full Description:  Make a cast of new friends during this fun-filled week! Campers will experience a mini-production and will not only be the cast, but will also be the production crew, learn how to understand and develop characters, create sets and props, and design costumes, then will perform for family and friends on Friday afternoon.

INSTRUCTOR BIOS
Jay Apking (Session 1 Instructor) -- Jay is the president and creator of Great American Child which focuses on books and programs which teach all children to be well-rounded. He has been directing and performing for children since 1996, having worked at the Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival and the Barter Theater in Virginia as well as touring the eastern U.S and Russia with productions. He also had his own children's theatre company named The Janus Project. He currently lives in Knoxville, TN with his family.

Cecily Smith (Session II instructor) is an actor, director, singer, choreographer and a theatre educator. She has performed on stages and in film across the United States. Some of her most notable roles include Fiona in Little Angels (Alumnae Theatre Company, Toronto), Carol in Oleanna (The Janus Project, Cincinnati, Ohio), Marian in The Edible Woman (Festival of New Works, Ann Arbor, Michigan), Nan/Lina in Three Days of Rain (The Chance Theatre Company, Anaheim Hills, California), Marie in Search and Destroy (Rude Guerilla Theatre Company, Santa Ana, California), Lady Di in Brentwood Blondes (Los Angeles, California) and Sarah in Blood Proposal (film, Pendulum Swing Productions). She holds a BFA in theatre performance from Miami University and is a recently certified stage and film combatant with the Academy of Fight Directors Canada. She has directed, choreographed and coached performers of all ages for over 20 years. She loves teaching and sharing her love of movement and acting with her students. Cecily is also a writer, an avid yogi and a certified Pilates instructor and currently lives with her family in the beautiful city of Toronto.

Family Discount: 1st child pays full tuition, 2nd or more children receive 10% off tuition

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be made 2 weeks prior to the first day of class. A $25 administration fee will be deducted from any refunded amount for all summer camps. To request a cancellation please email aadams@artshhi.com. Refunds will be mailed within 2 weeks of cancellation.

What to bring:
For students attending all day camps, please provide a sack lunch and drink. Otherwise, a water bottle is all you will need! Art smocks are available for visual arts camps but to ensure a stress-free week please send your child in clothes that can get messy.
