2017/18 Theater Season

Following the South Carolina premiere of the joyous Tony Award-winning musical The Color Purple in October and the Carolinas’ premiere of Disney's Tony-winning Newsies in December, the 2017/18 season continued with our patrons’ number one non-musical, the thriller Dial M for Murder in February 2018. Spring brings Andrew Lloyd Webber’s masterful Evita – your number #1 requested musical onstage May 2-27; and in the summer we'll all hustle back to the 70s with the music of the legendary Bee Gees at the Southeastern premiere of Saturday Night Fever!

Blithe Spirit
February 12-March 3
This fantasy comedy by Noel Coward combines farce, emotion and clever wit when writer Charles Condomine holds a seance at his house and the ghost of his first wife comes back and causes all kinds of michief for Condomine and his wife Ruth!

A Chorus Line
May 1-June 2, 2019
A Chorus Line examines one day in the lives of seventeen dancers, all vying for a spot in the “chorus line” of a Broadway musical. Zach, the director and choreographer, asks each dancer to speak about themselves in this nine-time Tony Award winner. Based on real Broadway dancers’ stories as told to fellow dancer and choreographer Michael Bennett, A Chorus Line is funny, heartbreaking, and refreshingly honest.

The Arts Center is thrilled to produce the Carolinas’ premiere of Disney’s Tony Award-winning Newsies, with jubilant music by Alan Menken and book by Harvey Fierstein. The show puts the spotlight on high-flying dance with everything from tumbling to tap. Set in New York City at the turn of the century and inspired by the real-life Newsboys strike of 1899, Newsies is the rousing tale of a charismatic newsboy who dreams of a better life far from the streets.
