This exhibit represents a selection of work from the advanced photography students at Hilton Head Island High School. Ranging from sophomores to seniors, these students are presently enrolled in Photography 2, 3, & Advanced Placement (A.P.) Photography. On display are two prints from every A.P. student and one print from all Photo 3 students and a select few from Photography 2 students.

The images on display represent some of the best work from these students this year in a wide variety of photographic media. These include black and white silver gelatin prints, chromoskedasik psuedosolarization prints, mordancage prints, and digital photography.  During the student’s advanced photography course, students work on individual assignments and portfolios ranging from 34 - 84 prints and projects per course, depending on the level of course taken.

Artistic Expressions ~ Home School 2-D Art
On View January - March 2010
Home school students from across the county were introduced to elements of art and principles of design through a variety of 2-D processes such as vine and compressed charcoal, watercolor, gouache, and drawing inks. In one project, while learning about repetition, students were asked to choose a complementary color scheme and repeat a motif of their design using gauche, an opaque watercolor medium.

For the final project, students studied Abstract Expressionism from the 1940’s. One of the century’s most important and influential artistic movements.
